Maverick – ‘A person who thinks and acts in an independent way, often behaving differently from the expected or usual way’ (Cambridge Dictionary)
I believe to be an artist you must be a maverick, the two are intrinsically linked with each other.
We live in a world where people have opinions on what art is and what art is not, but Marcel Duchamp said, “If I call it art, it’s art”.
Volume I focused on the artists of the past, the 19th and 20th Century. It delved into my life as a child and as a teenager.
Volume II focused on the artists of this century. The ones who lives in London, and explored my current life and thoughts.
Volume III is all about being a ‘Maverick’ and I want to explore the stories of artists who not only live in London but across the UK and the world.
“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” Dalai Lama, and that is what we are doing this year exploring the world.
Volume I gave you the past, Volume II gave you the now and Volume III is giving you even more.
